Film Star Found Unconscious in Pool Dies in Tragic Incident
A devastating tragedy has sent shockwaves throughout the film industry.
Renowned French actor Nadia Fares has passed away at the age of 57 after being discovered unresponsive in a swimming pool at a Parisian gym.
Authorities have launched an official investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
A Significant Television Legacy
Originally born in Morocco, Fares catapulted to global fame in 2000 following her breakthrough role in Mathieu Kassovitz’s The Crimson Rivers.
She developed a dynamic and varied career, starring in movies such as the 2007 action-thriller War and the horror feature Storm Warning, consistently bringing an intense, commanding presence to every role she accepted.
Furthermore, she made a substantial impact on the small screen, most notably acting alongside Gérard Depardieu in the Netflix political drama series Marseille between 2016 and 2018.

As reported by Le Monde, Fares was scheduled to begin production on a new action-comedy in September 2026. This highly anticipated project would have marked her directorial and screenwriting debut—a dream that sadly will never be realized.
On Friday, April 17, Fares’s daughters officially confirmed the tragic news of her passing to the French news agency AFP.
“It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Nadia Farès this Friday,” her daughters, Cylia and Shana Chasman, shared in a written statement to AFP.
“France has lost a great artist, but for us, it is above all a mother we have just lost.”
Fell Into a Coma
Fares was found unconscious in the pool of a private gym in Paris on Sunday, April 11. After suffering a cardiac arrest, she slipped into a coma before ultimately passing away on Friday at the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital in Paris.
While authorities have initiated an investigation into her death, officials informed Le Monde that no foul play is suspected at this time.
The publication also noted that back in 2007, Fares disclosed she had undergone brain surgery to treat an aneurysm, which she had referred to as “a ticking time bomb that needed to be treated urgently.” Additionally, she had previously revealed that she had undergone three separate heart surgeries.

In a deeply moving Instagram tribute posted on Saturday, April 18, Fares’s daughter Cylia expressed her profound sorrow, describing her mother’s death as “a heartbreak I will never get over.”
“It pains me to say goodbye, but mama, I will make you so proud,” she wrote in her emotional message. “I am so happy that we got even closer than we were before in your last few months. You understood me better than anyone and I don’t know how I will recover. People always say I’m mini you and that’s the best compliment.”
Reflecting warmly on their close relationship, she added: “You were so loved and you were my role model, every achievement I had I was always so excited to tell you first because I knew how proud of me you would be. You were not only an amazing mom but my best friend. …I love you, please watch over me. You have shown me how fast life can change literally overnight. I will take that with me every day and make every day count for you.”
