New Poll Shows Sharp Decline in Trump’s Approval as Americans Express Deep Pessimism
If you listen to Donald Trump, he portrays his second term as a period of smooth progress — marked by strength, stability, and forward momentum. But newly released national polling suggests many Americans don’t share that sense of reassurance.
A recent CNN/SSRS poll conducted October 27–30 among 1,245 adults shows Trump’s overall approval rating sliding to 37%. Back in mid-February, it stood at 47%. This latest figure puts him near one of the lowest points of his presidency, approaching the levels recorded after the January 6 Capitol riot in 2021. According to the survey, 63% now say they disapprove of the job he’s doing.
When asked about the broader direction of the country, respondents were similarly downbeat. Sixty-eight percent described things in the U.S. as going “pretty/very badly,” while only 32% said conditions are “very/fairly well.” Much of the unease appears tied to financial pressure: rising prices and household costs dominated concerns. Nearly half — 47% — cited the economy and the cost of living as the most urgent national issue.
