Trump Fires Back at Pope Leo With a Chilling Two-Word Attack

Just last week, Pope Leo XIV voiced strong concerns regarding Donald Trump’s military actions in Iran, warning that such moves are “provoking more hatred” and cautioning that targeting civilian facilities would constitute a breach of international law. In response, the President has retaliated against the American-born pontiff with a startling allegation.

The Pope has made no secret of his fierce opposition to the ongoing conflict in Iran, specifically condemning President Donald Trump’s maneuvers. While leading a prayer service at the Vatican’s St. Peter’s Basilica, he denounced the “delusion of omnipotence that surrounds us and is becoming increasingly unpredictable and aggressive.”

He emphatically declared, “Enough of the idolatry of self and money! Enough of the display of power! Enough of war! True strength is shown in serving life.”

A few days prior, Pope Leo had already appealed to Trump and other global leaders involved in the conflict to de-escalate the situation.

Echoing his recent Sunday address, the American-born Pope stated, “I would simply say, once again, what I said in the ‘Urbi et Orbi’ message on Sunday: asking all people of goodwill to search, always, for peace and not violence; to reject war, especially a war which many people have said is an unjust war, which is continuing to escalate and which is not resolving anything.”

Pope Leo criticizes Donald Trump over the Iran war

Elaborating on the Middle East crisis, the Pope emphasized that the current trajectory is “only provoking more hatred” and pleaded with officials to “come back to the table” for diplomatic negotiations. Leo explicitly reminded Donald Trump that attacking civilian infrastructure violates international law.

“Let’s remember especially the innocent children, the elderly, the sick, so many people who have already become or will become victims of this continued warfare,” Pope Leo urged, encouraging citizens globally to reach out to their politicians to “tell them to work for peace and to reject war.”

Donald Trump has since fired back in his characteristically blunt style. Taking to social media, the U.S. President blasted the head of the Catholic Church for his critiques regarding the Iranian conflict, labeling the Pope as “weak” on crime and “terrible” regarding foreign policy.

“I don’t want a Pope who criticizes the President of the United States because I’m doing exactly what I was elected [to do],” Trump posted on Truth Social.

Trump fires back at Pope Leo

The President went so far as to suggest that Pope Leo wouldn’t even hold his position if it weren’t for Donald Trump himself.

“Leo should be thankful because, as everyone knows, he was a shocking surprise,” Trump boldly asserted. “He wasn’t on any list to be Pope, and was only put there by the Church because he was an American, and they thought that would be the best way to deal with President Donald J. Trump.”
