Trump Sparks Outrage Again After Calling Female Reporter ‘Ugly’ on Social Media

Donald Trump made major headlines a few weeks ago after referring to a reporter as “piggy” aboard Air Force One. Now, the president is facing backlash again—this time for attacking a female journalist’s appearance on social media.

President Donald Trump has long been considered one of the most outspoken leaders in U.S. history. His combative tone on social platforms has angered many critics, who argue that his remarks—especially those targeting people’s looks—are unbecoming of the office of the President.

Throughout his political career, Trump has handed out mocking nicknames to many opponents. As recently as Wednesday, he labeled Illinois Governor JB Pritzker a “fat slob.”

Only weeks earlier, during the flight on Air Force One, he called a reporter “piggy,” a moment that drew strong condemnation from journalists and Democrats, while many of his supporters defended him.

Now, Trump has once again lashed out at a female reporter—this time over what he says is inaccurate reporting—and he did so by insulting her appearance.

New York Times reporter Katie Rogers co-authored a piece describing how Trump had reduced his public engagements compared to his first term. The article suggested that his efforts to convey “round-the-clock energy, virility and physical stamina” were becoming more challenging, largely due to his age of 79.

Trump rejected the article outright. On social media, he blasted the report, labeling The New York Times an “enemy of the people.” He also declared that he had “the highest poll numbers, ever,” and suggested that his popularity would “only go up” because of his accomplishments.

Then he turned his criticism toward Katie Rogers personally.

“The Creeps at the Failing New York Times are at it again,” Trump posted on Truth Social on Wednesday. “Radical Left Lunatics in the soon to fold New York Times did a hit piece on me claiming I might be losing my Energy, despite facts proving the opposite.”

He continued, “The writer of the story, Katie Rogers—assigned to write only negative things about me—is a third-rate reporter who is ugly, both inside and out.”

“There will come a day when my Energy dips—it happens to everyone—but with a PERFECT PHYSICAL EXAM AND A COMPREHENSIVE COGNITIVE TEST (‘That was aced’) JUST RECENTLY TAKEN, that day is certainly not now!” he concluded.

The New York Times responded. In a statement shared with People magazine, the publication condemned Trump’s remarks, specifically his characterization of Rogers.

“The Times’s reporting is accurate and based on firsthand information. Name-calling and personal insults do not change that fact, nor will our journalists shy away from covering this administration in the face of intimidation. Skilled and diligent reporters like Katie Rogers demonstrate how an independent, free press helps Americans better understand their government and its leaders,” the statement read.

White House responds

White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson also commented, asserting that the president’s recent remarks had nothing to do with gender.

“President Trump has never been politically correct, never holds back, and, in large part, the American people re-elected him for his bluntness. This has nothing to do with gender—it’s entirely about the reality that trust in the media from both the President and the public is at an all-time low,” she said, according to NBC.
